Havana is the capital of Cuba, and the largest city on the island. Havana was founded on November 16, 1519 by the Spanish conquistador Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar as one of the first seven Cuban villas. Its historical center was declared Patrimony of the Humanity by the UNESCO in 1987. It is one of the main tourist destinations of Cuba.
